Description
A consultation seminar on the implementation of the PISA 2025 international assessment and the drafting of the PISA 2025 National Report of the Republic of Tajikistan was held at the National Library of Tajikistan. The event was organised within the framework of the project “European Union Support to Education and Labour Sectors in the Republic of Tajikistan.”
The seminar brought together approximately 80 participants, including representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan and its subordinate institutions, the Main Directorate of Education of Dushanbe City, district-level education departments, school principals and teachers from participating general secondary education institutions, as well as development partners.
Tajikistan’s participation in PISA 2025 marks the country’s first involvement in a large-scale international assessment of education quality implemented by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). PISA assesses students’ functional literacy in Reading, Mathematics, and Science, as well as their ability to apply knowledge and skills in real-life contexts.
The PISA 2025 assessment in Tajikistan was conducted in general secondary education institutions in the city of Dushanbe. The organisation and implementation of the assessment were carried out by the National Testing Center under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, with financial and advisory support provided by the European Union.
During the seminar, participants were informed about the organisation and conduct of the PISA Field Trial and the PISA 2025 Main Survey, international approaches to drafting PISA national reports (including the example of Kazakhstan’s PISA 2022 National Report), and priority themes to be reflected in Tajikistan’s National Report. The discussions also focused on collecting stakeholder feedback and identifying key issues relevant to the national education context.
The seminar laid the groundwork for drafting the PISA 2025 National Report of Tajikistan, based on stakeholder input and the principles of evidence-based education policy.
The event was conducted in strict compliance with OECD confidentiality requirements. The dissemination of PISA 2025 results was not part of the seminar.
