Introducing the competency-based education in Tajikistan with a particular focus on STEM education

Summary

Despite various challenges, Tajikistan has made significant efforts to ensure universal access to education and is strongly committed, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), to ensure high quality and accessible education to all throughout life, provide the country's economy with competent workers, appropriate infrastructure and modern and innovative technologies.

In order to support Tajikistan in making progress in the achievement of SDG 4 and implementing its recently adopted National Strategy for Education Development for the period until 2030 , the project aims to design textbooks, teaching and learning materials for selected STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects based on competency-based curricula at the secondary education level and to develop national ICT competency standards for teachers.

The expected impact is to improve overall quality of education in Tajikistan in the areas of STEM, ICT and VET.
